Good evening, the news...
When the news makes news, it's usually for the wrong reasons. Last week, there was a two-day media seminar in memory of the late Nikhil Chakravartty, organised by the Delhi-based Indian Women's Press Corps. The atmosphere was cynical in general and particular speakers pessimistic.

Choking to death
A 100 years ago, when the plague broke out in Mumbai, town planners realised the need to decongest the city. The result was Dadar, then a well planned suburb. A century later, the place is choking with people.

Search for roots fruitless for Pune-born Dutch teenager
A two to three-year-old child is adopted from Pune by a Dutch couple who live in picturesque Holland. Fifteen years later, the child, now a teenager, becomes obsessed with finding his real mother and gets on a flight to Pune.
