Gujarat House in throes over alleged assault on students
The Gujarat Assembly was thrown into turmoil leading to a walkout by the entire Opposition and suspension of two Congress MLAs, when the Congress alleged that the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal were responsible for last week's attack on students of the local Centre for Environment and Planning Technology (CEPT).

Mandal firm on Greater Jharkhand
The Government's announcement to carve out Vananchal state from Bihar (along with Uttaranchal and Chhattisgarh) is the culmination of decades long struggle waged by the tribals of South Bihar to create the Jharkhand state. Ironically the creation of the new Vananchal State may still not fulfil the aspirations of the people who had dreamt of a greater Jharkhand comprising forest tracts from the four states of Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa and West Bengal.

Police record statements in "hoarding" probe
The Tamil Nadu state police on Saturday recorded the statement of advocate P Rathnavel, the complainant in the case registered against Health Minister Arcot N Veerasamy, and his brother and owner of "Seven Star Enterprises" N Devarajan in connection with the alleged "hoarding scam".
