CHENNAI, July 26: Gurunath Meiyappan displayed some excellent driving to sweep the FISSME (Formula Indian Single Seater Maruti Engine) class in the third round of the JK Tyre Racing Challenge motor races at the Irungattukottai track here on Sunday.
Gurunath won both the five lap rounds with much to spare and took his championship tally to 73 points, well ahead of his nearest challenger, Arun Murugappan (61). However Gurunath announced that he would not be participating in the next two championship rounds as the dates clash with a couple of golf tournaments in which he is scheduled to participate.
Gurunath dominated both the five lap rounds on Sunday and driving smoothly as ever, left the rest of the eight car field to fight for minor positions. So much so he reduced the event to a one horse race start to finish.
