NEW DELHI, July 28: Geet Sethi (Gujarat) and Ashok Shandilya (Mumbai) will meet on Wednesday in the final of the Centre Point Billiard Pool Tournament at the Community Centre, Kalkaji here.
In an exciting semifinal match, Sethi came back strongly, after being 1-5 down at one stage, to beat the challenge of Delhi's Sidharth Anand. Sethi finally won 7-5.
In the other semifinal, Shandilya defeated another Delhi player, Amit Sharma, 7-4.
In the quarterfinals, earlier in the day, Sethi defeated Delhi's Manan Chandra, 7-4 while Ashok Shandilya eliminated Mukesh Rehani (Delhi), 7-5, to move into the semifinals.
In the two other quarterfinals, Amit Sharma defeated statemate Loju Thukral (7-4) while Sidharth Anand accounted for Feroz Ali, also from Delhi, with a 7-4 verdict.
The 24-player, four group round-robin league matches were earlier completed on three tables with the top two players from each group moving into the quarterfinals.
The event is a build-up for the Asian Games in Bangkok in December thisyear. There will be as many as 12 medals at stake for the Pool game (nine ball Pool Single and nine ball Pool Double.
