July 28: The Vice-Chancellor of the Mumbai University Dr Snehalata Deshmukh inaugurated the varsity's Thane district youth festival at K V Pendharkar College, Dombivli, on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, she assured that she would work toward the decentralisation of the university's administrative procedures. ``I can understand how agonising it must be to travel from a distant suburb like Dombivli to either Kalina or Fort campuses just to submit a form,'' " she said, assuring, ``We are going to have local centres to handle such work.'' She also agreed in principle to the starting of a distance education centre at the Pendharkkar college.
