Man stabs wife, self

NEW DELHI, July 28: A 25-year-old man reportedly stabbed his 23-year-old wife with a broken glass bottle in Gokulpuri yesterday afternoon. Following this, Pankaj stabbed himself with the same bottle. Both have been admitted to the GTB Hospital. While Shalini's condition is reported to be serious, Pankaj is stable. According to the police, the couple had been married for two years and had separated two months ago. Shalini had filed for divorce and the papers had come through. She was allegedly being harassed for dowry.Investigations have revealed that Pankaj had gone to patch up with Shalini but when negotiations failed he hit her with a beer bottle. The Gokulpuri police have registered two cases -- one of attempt to murder and harassment for dowry and another of attempt to suicide against the husband.
