MUMBAI, Aug 3: Hotel Centaur scored a comfortable 2-0 triumph over Tata Electric in the MDFA-conducted Harwood football league at the St Xaviers ground, Parel, today.
Tata Electric flattered to deceive. They began well but failed to deliver the goods. Their defence, in which goalkeeper Clarence Roberts stood out, held on to the rival pressure for the first 15 minutes.
Centaur scored their first goal in the 18th minute through Elias D'Souza, who scored with a top-of-the-box shot, after receiving a pass from Kingsley Rebello.
Inspired with the goal, Centaur pressed harder and notched their second goal through Ramnarayan Nair, who struck from close in the 29th minute, following a pass by Adrian Moraes.
BPCL (Refineries) held Ceat Tyres to a goalless draw in Section B of the First Division.
Young Boys failed to turn up against BPCL (Marketing).
In Sundays action, Borovlians beat Jai Ambe 2-0 in Div IA after a goalless first half.
