Gujarat faces serious communal conflict -- Congress

NEW DELHI, Aug 3: The Congress today expressed apprehensions that Gujarat was heading towards a serious communal conflict in view of frequent attacks on minorities and took strong exception to the reported statement of Union Home Minister L K Advani describing the incidents as "trivial in nature".

Party spokesperson Girja Vyas told reporters that the Congress wondered as to when Advani will understand the seriousness of the situation and take appropriate action to safeguard the interest of the minorities.

She said Advani's attitude "clearly reflects the BJP's hidden agenda and their fascist communal thinking".
