SEOUL, August 4: South Korean President Kim Dae-Jung today sacked Foreign Minister Park Chung-Soo for allegedly mishandling an espionage row with Russia, officials said. Park was replaced at the helm of the Foreign Ministry by Ambassador-at-large, Hong Soon-Young, a former Deputy Foreign Minister and ex-ambassador to Russia.
S Korean ministers are traditionally forced to resign to avoid humiliation of being sacked. However, said Park was fired.
