NEW DELHI, August 5: Inside-left Vikram Bhandari was the toast of the evening when he provided New Delhi Heroes with the only goal of the match against Youngmen in a group A match of the DSA-SAIL Super League at Ambedkar Stadium. N D Heroes played a conservative game and had better ball-control over their strong opponents.

They excelled in all departments of the game and dominated the game throughout and made perfect exchanges of moves in their opponents' area. They should, in fact, have gone ahead in the first half itself but Vikram Bhandari was guilty of muffing up two opportunities.

On changing ends, Heroes mounted pressure once again but mid-fielder Ravindra's feeble attempt was saved by Youngmen goalkeeper Umesh Vohra in the 46th minute.

The all-important goal came two minutes later when inside-right Shyam Thapa sent a well-calculated cross to the centre. Bhandari made no mistake in heading it nicely into the net to give his team lead. Heroes got a chance to increase the lead when Lalit Singh feeded a pass to Rajesh Sinha whose attempt at the goal was savd by the goalkeeper. In the closing stages of the game, Youngmen got a chance to equalise when Kamal Chetri failed to capitalise on a Rupinder cross and shot over.

With this victory, N D Heroes collected three important points.
