DOHA, AUG 16: An Indian XI led by Mohammed Azharuddin beat a Pakistani team captained by Rashid Latif by 16 runs at the Al Arab Stadium astroturf pitch here last night for their second straight win in a series of three exhibition matches in the Gulf.
Put in to bat first, the Indians made 197 for six from their 40 overs and then managed to restrict the Pakistanis to 181 for eight in yet another close encounter between the two sides. Rahul Dravid, who made 66 (82b, 1x4, 2x6) for the Indians, was adjudged Man of the Match.
Other Indian batsmen who shone in the match were Ajay Jadeja (58) and opener Saurav Ganguly (33). Dravid and jadeja, who came together when the Indians were reeling at 58 for four, put on 109 for the fifth wicket.
For the Pakistanis, Ijaz Ahmed topscored with 56 while opener Shahid Afridi made 37 and Mohammed Hussain 28.
The Indians had won the first match in Dubai on Friday by 14 runs. The last engagement will be played here tomorrow.
