PM allays fears on N-arms race
Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee has sought to allay apprehensions about India triggering a nuclear arms race in the region even "accidentally'' but sserted that the "war'' against cross-border terrorism inspired by Pakistan will continue.
Work on INSAT 3A satellite commences
Work on the construction of INSAT 3A has begun. A review meeting regarding the plan was held three days ago at Bangalore.
Pak troops open fire along border in Jammu
Pakistani troops resorted to open unprovoked heavy firing from across the border on Indian position in R S Pura sector last evening. Pakistani troops opened fire on forward areas in Jagiwan, Rajpora, and Nikowal areas. Indian troops also retaliated and the exchange continued for several hours.
