Gill's out, is BJP batting?
Try as it might, the government just does not seem able to put Surrindar Singh Gill behind it. The more it tries to silence him, the more he protests. First, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi makes all manner of accusations against him.

Hurdles on highway
Next time you're speeding towards Agra to see the Taj Mahal, remember a bit of history is created on the highway itself. The 199-km Delhi-Agra highway is one of India's first foreign-funded roads, at least one-third of which has been built with sparkling white concrete. Four-laning of the highway, the NH-2, is expected to be completed by end-1999, making it one of the smoothest, uninterrupted drives in India.
