Strengthen roots of parliamentary democracy: Sonia
Congress president Sonia Gandhi yesterday said the party would resist any move to tamper with the parliamentary form of Government in the name of stability and there was nothing permanent about uncertain mandates and coalitions. She said the party should take a lead in championing the cause of electoral reforms that would put parliamentary form of Government on a sounder foundation.

Sena rebels Naik, Gawande at Pachmarhi
The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has reportedly invited two Shiv Sena rebels -- former Maharashtra Ministers Ganesh Naik and Gulabrao Gawande -- as special invitees for the three-day brain-storming Congress conclave which began yesterday at Pachmarhi in Madhya Pradesh.

C D Patel remains Gujarat Cong chief
At last after a gap of over a year, the All India Congress Committee on Tuesday announced the reconstituted a `please-all' Pradesh Congress Committee for Gujarat. The high command in its much-awaited announcement retained C D Patel as the state unit president while appointing 11 vice-presidents and 14 general secretaries and secretaries.
