Bodos kill adivasi woman, set 190 houses on fire

KOKRAJHAR, SEPT 14: An adivasi woman has been killed and 190 santhal houses have been burnt by Bodo militants in lower Assam's ethnic violence-hit Kokrajhar district, official sources said today.

The sources said a group of Bodo militants swooped down on an Adivasi relief camp at Balegaon in Gossaingaon sub-division, attacked its inmates and gunned down the woman yesterday.

Another group of Bodo ultras torched 190 Adivasi houses in Koksaguri, Surrendrapur and Sabkakat villages and exchanged fire with police personnel who arrived at the scene after receiving information about the incident, the sources said.

None was injured in the blaze, the sources said, adding search operations are on to track out the militants.
