Official sources said while 11 more bodies were recovered from Saraibeel area, seven deaths were reported in fresh incidents taking the toll to 45.

Stating five others were still missing, DIG (western range) B B Mishra said over the phone from Kokrajhar that ``in the fresh incidents, four Santhals were killed in Kachugaon area while another Santhal was killed at Dhardhara by Bodo militants''.

Bodo militants also shot dead a senior AGP leader Phani Roy in Kokrajhar town. An unidentified person was killed at Hatimatha by Bodo Liberation Tigers (BLT).

Meanwhile, two Bodos and as many Santhals were injured as arson in several villages under Gossaigaon sub-division continued for the second day after Chief Minister P K Mahanta left the areas. Mahanta, accompanied by seniorofficers of the State Government had visited the violence-affected sub-division today, and instructed carrying out intensive vigil in the sensitive area.

Army requisitioned by the district administration was expected to take position in the district by tonight, sources added.

The Bodo Sahitya Sabha president Bineswar Brahma has issued an appeal to both communities to show restraint and not to get agitated over rumours.

Security meausures have been intensified in the villages lying between the national highway and the Indo-Bhutan border, while the Border Security Force (BSF) too has been asked to keep a watch over any possible infiltration of Bodo militants from across the border.

The violence, it may be recalled, occured within four days of the government calling off a tripartite discussion on the Bodo issue slated for September 11.
