GHPS girls lift Mota Singh trophy

NEW DELHI, September 22: Guru Harkishan Public School (India Gate) recovered remarkably from 0-2 down to stun Modern School (Vasant Vihar) 3-2 in the girls final of 16th S S Mota Singh memorial hockey tournament at S S Mota Singh Senior Secondary School (Janakpuri) here today.

Modern School took the lead in the 10th minute through Vrinda who increased the lead after five minute with another goal. However, Pooja Rawat (2) and Charanpreet gave GHPS victory. The winners earned five penalty corners in comparison to three awarded to Modern School.

In the senior boys section, the hosts beat Sawan Public School 3-1. Jaspreet Singh Bindra (2) and Jaspreet Singh Abet were the scorers for the winners while Robertson reduced the margin for Sawan Public School.

The junior boys final, between S S Mota Singh Senior Secondary School and R D Public School will be played at 9.30 am on Wednesday.
