MBA IV semester results today
The result of MBA 4th semester examinations conducted by Punjab University in April/May 1998 will be declared on Friday. The result gazette will be available at the enquiry counter in the basement of PU Administrative office, for consultation by students on all working days from 10 am to 5 pm, according to an official release.

Lecture on Gandhian values
Department of Gandhian Studies in collaboration with Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti (Govt of India), Delhi will organise a special lecture on `Gandhian Values and Programme in the 21st century'. The lecture will be delivered by Prof S.L. Malhotra, former head of Department of Gandhian Studies on October 2, at Gandhi Bhavan.

PU Class-C staff seek better deal
The General Body meeting of Punjab University Class-C Staff Association held here today passed the following demands unanimously. According to a release issued here today, their demands include cash payment to all employees in lieu of cloth for uniforms and stitching on the pattern of Punjab Government; fixed medical allowance on Punjab pattern, creation of more Class-C posts in the university in view of the work load; daftri/record-lifter and machine operator to be fixed in the scale of Rs 950-1800. They have also demanded employment for one of their wards after retirement, construction of more houses in the current financial year.

Ministerial staff hold rally
The stay-in strike observed by the Punjab State Ministerial Services Union entered eighth day. The employees held a rally outside the office of Punjab Treasury, said a press statement.

Roadside dhobis seek licences
A deputation of Dhobi Welfare Society under the leadership of its chairman Gurbachan Singh met UT advisor Jagdish Sagar and sought licenses for the road-side dhobis on the pattern of those issued to the rickshaw pullers. This was stated in a statement issued here today by the Society.

Mahasammelan on September 27
Chandigarh Dhanak Maha Sabha will take part in a "mahasammelan" to be held on September 27 at Hisar, Sabha's general secretary Hukam Chander Khundia said in a statement. Former Haryana chief minister and Indian National Lokdal chief Om Parkash Chautala will be the chief guest on the occasion, the statement added.

PPCC to organise Protest Day
Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee has asked all its district units to organise a protest demonstration on Friday as All India Protest Day, said Amarinder Singh, president PPCC in a press release issued here today.

Bonus sought
The Joint Action Committee of Punjab and UT employees has, through a press release, appealed to the Punjab Finance Minister to release bonus and DA instalment in the wake of festival season that's coming up.

10-day NSS camp
A 10-day NSS camp was inaugurated at Dev Samaj College For Women, Sector 45-B today. A seminar on "Environment: the basic requisite for Health" was also organised. Dr S.P. Mittal, Principal Scientist, centre for Soil and Water Conservation spoke on the hazards of forest denudation.

CSIR foundation day
On the occasion of CSIR Foundation Day, all laboratories of the Central Scientific Instruments Organisation, Sector 30 will remain open for general public from 9.30 am to 1 pm on September 26. A lecture on "Dark matters in the universe - Perspectives and prospects" will also be delivered in the afternoon by the Director of the Bangalore-based, Indian Institute of Astrophysics.
