Return of the great communicator
The communicator, who appeared to have lost his touch in recent months, was back in form again at his impromptu press conference at the New York Palace hotel. "A new chapter in Indo-Pak cooperation is being opened", he announced at the end of his meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Put it to rest now
Recent Press reports reveal that the Union Minister for Urban Affairs has issued an order divesting the Secretary in his ministry of almost all work. As such sudden decisions influence the overall image and stability of government functioning it is useful to review what the rule-book says.

Pragmatism pays in improving Indo-Pak relations
There will be a general sense of relief in India and Pakistan over the fact that their prime ministers have at last been able to hold a constructive dialogue. The road to New York via Colombo and Durban has not been easy for either Atal Behari Vajpayee or Nawaz Sharif steering as they have had to round domestic political pressures and international expectations.
