Paes to take on Rusedski in first singles
India number one Leander Paes was drawn to meet world number 11 Greg Rusedski in the opening singles of the Davis Cup World Group play-off tie against Britain. Mahesh Bhupathi will play Tim Henman, the current British top seed ranked number 15 in the world, in the second singles.

India surprised other teams: Arif
One of the success story of the Kuala Lumpur Commonwealth Games was badminton with two silver and two bronze medals. Syed Mohammad Arif, the national coach, is happy but not excited with the results. Arif, who was assigned this job six months back, attributed the success to Badminton Association of India for giving a purposeful direction to the game.

AC Milan advance
German striker Oliver Bierhoff kicked in the qualifying goal with four minutes left at San Siro Stadium to give AC Milan an unhoped-for third-round berth in the Italian Cup. The 3-0 home victory against second-division Torino in the second-round, second-leg of the competition allowed the Milan powerhouse to overturn a 0-2 first-leg deficit and advance on a 3-2 aggregate.
