Plot to bomb US embassy in Uganda foiled
Ugandan authorities have arrested 20 people, including two ring leaders and followers of Osama bin Laden, who had allegedly planned to bomb the US embassy in Uganda. On a tip-off from CIA, more than a dozen FBI agents worked with the Ugandan anti-terrorist squad to unravel the plot.

Edited tapes of Tripp-Lewinsky talks gets nod from the House
A US House of Representatives committee has voted to release a heavily edited version of the tape-recordings of Linda Tripp's conversations with Monica Lewinsky, which sparked an impeachment investigation of President Bill Clinton. The committee voted 35-0 on Friday to remove large sections of the tapes involving privacy considerations and other sensitive material.

US wants better Indo-Pak ties for sanctions' waiver
In a new twist to conditions laid down for lifting sanctions against India and Pakistan, the United States has said the two countries, besides meeting other goals, should make substantial progress towards settling their differences through bilateral dialogue.
