BJP on offensive, will make Bihar poll plank
Following the embarrassment on account of Bihar issue, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided that offence is the best form of defence. Acting in tandem, Union Home Minister L K Advani and BJP general secretary M Venkaiah Naidu have called for a nation-wide debate on the use of Article 356, since it could not be imposed on Bihar which was the "fittest case for its application.'' The BJP is now expected to use the Bihar matter as an election issue during the November polls.

Congress opposed to scrapping Art 356
The Congress has said it was against the demand for abolition of the post of Governor as also scrapping Article 356 of the Constitution, which empowered the Centre to impose President's Rule in a state.

Hegde prefers to be at Centre and asks youth to take over State
Union Commerce Minister and Lok Shakti chief Ramakrishna Hegde has squashed the hopes of his party men by citing ill health as the reason for not taking active interest in the affairs of Karnataka.
