NAGPUR, SEPT 29: A deputy Superintendent of prison and 10 others have been booked in connection with the death of an undertrial under mysterious circumstances on Sunday last. According to police, Dhantoli police today registered offences under Section 302, 34 and 201 of the Indian Penal Code (murder and destroying of evidences), against five jail staff and six wardens-cum-watchmen.
A 30-year-old undertrial lodged in Nagpur prison, who was remanded to magisterial custody for the alleged murder of his wife, was rushed to Government Medical College hospital in the wee hours of Sunday following serious injuries to his head. He died later.
The autopsy report revealed that the death occurred due to injuries on head. Dhantoli police today received the full post-mortem report and accordingly slapped charges against 11 persons, police said.
