Crime Watch -- Vadodara

50-yr-old murdered
Sunderlal Kayasth, 50, the manager of Snehal Gymkhana was strangled under mysterious circumstances near a nullah in Ghadiali Pol, Mandvi area on Tuesday evening, the police said. The body of the deceased was identified only on late Tuesday night by his family members, the police added. According to the police, it was informed of the whereabouts of the body on phone. Kayasth had left home on Tuesday evening with three unidentified people, the police said. Denying any headway in the case, the police said the matter was still being investigated. The gymkhana too was shut down for the past four months due to reasons yet to be ascertained, the police added.

Gamblers held
The Sayajigunj police on Wednesday arrested five people for gambling near Gotri area and recovered about Rs 6,000 from their possession. The accused, were identified as Yusuf Pathan, Bharambhai Khunaji, Chandrakant Vasava, Mukesh Mali and Niranjan Mehta, the police added.

Vehicles lifted
Two Bajaj scooters (GJ-6-DD-6808 and GJ-6-S-3861) were stolen from Uday Park society, J P Road and Nyaya Mandir area, respectively, the police said on Wednesday.

Suicide
Surat: One Renuka Okhani, a 27-year-old housewife residing in the Varachha area of the city, committed suicide by consuming poison in her house on Wednesday morning, the police said. According to the the police, the woman was alone in her house and ended her life due to reason yet to be ascertained. She was rushed to the Ashaktashram hospital, where she died within half-an-hour of being admitted. The Varachha police have registered a case and are investigating.
