Samata still wants Rabri out
Samata Party, an ally of the BJP-led coalition, asked the Centre to send back the Cabinet's recommendation to President K R Narayanan insisting on dismissal of the RJD government in Bihar and announced it would launch a movement to dislodge the "Laloo-Rabri" regime.

Piqued mayors' plea to Advani
The All India Council of Mayors (AICM) has in a letter to Home Minister L K Advani expressed deep anguish and dissatisfaction over the inordinate delay in the implementation of the provisions of the 74th Constitution Amendment empowering the local elected functionaries in discharging their obligatory functions.

Blow to BSP as key Kanshi men join Congress
The Congress dealt another blow to the BSP's morale by admitting leaders from Kanshi Ram's party into its fold. The leaders were from Uttar Pradesh and Raipur district in Chhatisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, where the BSP has some following.
