BANGALORE, OCT 12: Lok Shakthi State Unit President Jeevaraj Alva on Monday described the demands of dissident MLAs of ruling Janata Dal in Karnataka who are seeking a change in J H Patel's leadership as ``unhealthy and unethical".Reacting to reporters' queries at a media conference, Alva said though the Lok Shakthi was disappointed with the ``dismal performance'' of the J H Patel Government and there was no governance.
Alva said the Patel government saying it had lost credibility but added that even now with Assembly elections little more than a year away, Patel was capable of providing a better administration. If the situation was to reach a stage ``where there is stagnation, then we will prefer fresh polls.''
However, Lok Shakti was against allowing a situation wherein ``a gang of vested interests will form a new power nucleus', he said. ``Blackmailing in politics on the basis of caste, groups and vested interests is wrong,'' he said.
Asked if the Dal MLAs who were sympathetic to Hegde had beenasked to stand by Patel, he said: `We have given whatever instructions needed to be given to those identified with us'.
He said R V Deshpande, convenor of Rashtriya Nava Nirmana Vedike, an apolitical forum of Hegde, was `part of Lok Shakti'. Deshpande, who is at loggerheads with Alva, had recently said Hegde had not invited him to join Lok Shakti and he might join some party.
