Yet another depression
The Meteorology Department, Gandhinagar, on Monday evening warned the Vadodara Flood Control room about another depression forming 700 km west of Goa over the Arabian Sea. Though it is unlikely to intensify further, the district collectorate will continue with its precautionary measures, official sources said, adding that all agencies including taluka, panchayat and police have been alerted.

Result disputed
Kalindi Paarasharya, a participant in the over-35 category of the National Marathon held in Vadodara on Sunday, in a memorandum submitted to organising secretary Jude D'Souza disputed the announced result and claimed she had come first. Paarasharya said she had been leading the race from the flag-off. D'Souza was not available for comment.

Prohibition
Police Commissioner Kuldip Sharma has prohibited, till October 21, bursting of firecrackers during Diwali on main roads and within 100 metres of religious places, airport, oil and petrochemical industries, hospitals and educational institutions. Lighting of firecrackers has also been prohibited within 500 metres of the Karachia village near Refinery, Dhanora village near IPCL and the GSFC wall.

UBI branch
The Subhanpura branch of the Union Bank of India will be opened in the city on Tuesday, taking the bank's strength in the district to 19.

Distribution
The Blind Welfare Council will distribute sweetmeats, ghee and other essential commodities to visually impaired citizens and their families on October 15 from 10 am at the Council's office at 47-A, Middle Class Society, Fatehgunj for the Diwali festival.

Programme held
A one-day sensitising programme on `Information Technology in School and Human Resource Management ' was organised on Sunday at the Don Bosco High School by the Department of Educational Administration, Faculty of Education and Psychology, M S University.
