VADODARA, Oct 12: The Railway Board has recently decided in principle to reopen a few narrow gauge routes that had been in operational for the past few years. The funds that will allow this were reportedly sanctioned recently. The routes that will now be opened will cover Ankleshwar, Jagatia, Rajpipla, Netrang, Kosamba, Umarpada, Bodeli and Chhotaudepur. When asked, officials at the Vadodara division said there was no specific reason why these lines were being opened up first.
A department officials said only one train would be operated on the narrow gauge lines and on one system. He said the trains would be operated through the magneto telephone at most of the places, while Jagatia was the only place where the Post and Telegraph system would be operating.
It may be recalled that Express Newsline had earlier published reports about the need to operate these trains in certain areas.
