Cases of theft reported
In four cases of theft reported from city, the police said that miscreants broke into the house of one Sudhirbhai Shah, a resident of Punitnagar Swati Society area, and stole valuables worth Rs 58,000. In the second case, reported in J P Road area, the police said miscreants stole valuables worth Rs 42,000 from the house of A G Khandelwala. The cases were looked into, the police said. Also various valuables worth about Rs 36,500 were stolen from the house of one Karsan Galani, a resident of J P Road area. One Bhavesh Vyas, a resident of Sayajigunj, reported to police that miscreants stole his bag which contained valuables worth over Rs 14,000.

Vehicles lifted
A Hero Honda (GJ-6-Q-6132) and a scooter (GJ-6-CC-5781) were stolen from Jawaharnagar and Karelibaug areas respectively, the police said on Monday.

Tortured
The Makarpura police has registered a case against several members of a family, residing at Bahuchraji road area, for mentally and physically torturing a woman for dowry. The Fatehgunj police registered a similar case against members of another family of Parulpark Society. The cases are being investigated, the police said on Monday.

Suicide bids
One Zakir Hussain Shiekh, a resident of Nava Yard, tried to end his life by consuming a poison and was rushed to S S G Hospital on Monday, the police said. Stating that Sheikh's condition was stable, the police said family disputes seemed to be the reason behind the extreme step. In another case, one Chirag Patel, a resident of Narmadabai Ni Chali slum area, Sayajigunj, tried end his life too. The police said that the youth was rushed to SSG Hospital where his condition was said to be stable.
