Babbar Khalsa ultra nabbed

FATEHGARH SAHIB: The Punjab Police today claimed to have arrested a much sought for Babbar Khalsa revivalist, Gurcharan Singh Billa, who had been planning to strike in places outside Punjab, especially Bihar and West Bengal, and recovered from him a huge cache of arms and ammunition. Director General of Police P.C. Dogra addressing mediapersons said Billa was closely associated with Jagtar Singh Hawara, chief accused in the assassination case of former chief minister Beant Singh.

Onions sans duty

MUMBAI: The Shiv Sena action committee on essential commodities today urged Union Commerce Minister R K Hegde and Finance Minister Yeshwant Sinha to waive duty on the import of 10,000 tonnes of onions from Iran for public distribution at a subisdised rate of Rs 10 per kg.

Skin bank

CHENNAI: The country's first skin bank costing Rs 27 lakh is proposed to be set up at the Government Medical College Hospital at Kilpauk here.
