MoF for Rs 100 cr capital for pvt insurance cos
The Union ministry of finance is reportedly in favour of keeping the minimum capital requirement for private insurance companies above Rs 100 crore.

Markets extend cautious welcome to new year
The stock markets ushered in Samvat 2055 -- the new year as per the Hindu calendar -- on a cautious note on Monday. Even though share prices showed marginal gains, the special "Moorat" trading lacked the traditional enthusiasm mainly because of the general bearish sentiment induced by the recessionary trend in the industry.

SBI to cut steel exposure
The State Bank of India has decided to pare its exposure to the beleaguered steel sector by two percentage points before the end of the current fiscal year. SBI has reportedly put on hold all fresh loans to the sector.
