A state of consumption
For years I have waited to tell you my three-dogs-and-the-leash story. This, I reckon, is a pretty good time to do so. Pressure is mounting on the Prime Minister to do something dramatic, perhaps within the next three days to "revive" the economy as he goes out to address the annual general meeting of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).

Death by blood
Vishwa, a fourth year engineering student living alone in a metropolis, first slipped into the world of narcotics, then to the circle of professional blood donors. Vishwa is HIV positive. So are at least two children who received the blood he donated.

Keep dialogue going
At the very least, the Islamabad talks have established that the governments of India and Pakistan see the necessity of keeping the dialogue going. This is apparent from the generally restrained language of public statements after the talks and more especially from the agreement to hold another round of discussions on confidence building measures and on Kashmir in February 1999.
