MUMBAI, OCT 22: Malaysia's Wong Kim Lee beat Shaun Lawyer 9-4, 6-9, 9-3 in the boys' under-16 second round of the WMI Cranes Little Masters Indian Junior Open squash tournament here today.
``He has been playing a lot of easy matches, so he tended to relax a bit,'' explained the coach of the four-member Malaysian team, Raymond Arnold. In the second round of the under-14 in the morning, Wong, the second seed, swept past Niklil Sheth without conceding a point.
Wong next meets Ankur Gupta, who had to fight hard to overcome Rishab Singhvi 7-9, 9-7, 9-6 in the pre-quarter-finals of the under-14. In the under-16, Wong plays Abhimanyu Jain, third seed and a student of Mayo College, Ajmer. Jain conceded just three points in his second round match.
In the boys' under-14, Saurav Ghosal defeated Anurag Gill 9-5, 8-10, 9-2 while D Ahalawat overcame Harit Kapur 9-4, 6-9, 9-6. Amjad Khan (Delhi) eclipsed Karanpal Sethi 9-3,9-2 in the under-16 and reached the pre-quarter-finals of the under-19 as well with a 9-7, 9-4victory over Gaurav Tomer.
