Harris hauls Kiwis to last-ball victory
New Zealand's Chris Harris scored a quickfire 37 to carry New Zealand to a last-ball win over Zimbabwe in the opening match of the Wills ICC Mini-World Cup at Dhaka yesterday. Earlier, batting first, Zimbabwe managed a healthy 258 for 7 wickets in their 50 overs, thanks to a brilliant century by skipper Alistair Campbell.

Taylor, Langer steer Australia to commanding position
An unbroken 103-run second wicket partnership between skipper Mark Taylor and Justin Langer yesterday edged Australia closer to their first Test cricket series win in Pakistan for 39 years. At the close of the third day of the third Test, Australia, 1-0 ahead in the three-match series, were 130 for one in their second innings -- an overall lead of 158.

Rovai conquers jaded Srinath
Sweden's Federico Rovai won the GVK Satellite tennis tournament in Hyderabad yesterday, defeating top-seed Prahlad Srinath in straight sets 6-4, 7-5. The second-seeded Swede's task was made easier by a bout of fever and muscle cramps which had affected the Srinath's performance from the quarter-finals stage itself.
