Doc held for youth's death

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

MUMBAI, Oct 27: The police have arrested a doctor for unwittingly administering an injection which killed a youth in Mulund last evening.

Sanjay Rathod (21), a resident of Shankar Tekdi, Mulund Colony, approached Dr Nirmalsingh Rajendrasingh Gill with a vial of `Tracrium' which he wanted Gill to inject him. The doctor, without ascertaining the vial's content, administered the injection. Moments later, Rathod felt giddy and died.

Police investigations have revealed that Rathod was not sick but a friend had recommended the drug for vitality.

The doctor has been arrested under section 304 of the Indian Penal Code. He was arrested after the residents of the area staged a protest at Mulund (west) on Tuesday afternoon seeking action against the doctor.
