MUMBAI, OCT 31: Prithvi Theatre Festival, probably the biggest event in the cultural calendar of the city, kicks off on Sunday. And what is specially important this year is that Mumbai will get to see some very interesting contemporary European theatre.
Six groups, from Italy, Polland, France, Britain and Germany are coming down, with a total of eight plays. Sponsored by the Max Touch Cultural Heritage Series, the festival will go on for 21 days, with at least two shows of each play.
The idea, says Divya Bhatia -- who has donned the mantle of the festival director instead of Sanjna Kapoor this year -- is to have as many people watch the plays as possible. To make the festival even more accessible, the tickets have been priced at a low Rs 50.
The first show will be Commedia dell' Arte Galore by Loughi Dell' Arte -- an Italian Group. Performed in gibberish, English, mime and Italian, this play will have three more shows this week.
So head for Rhythm House or the Prithvi Theatre, to book yourtickets.
