Task force set up on infrastructure
Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee on Saturday constituted a task force on infrastructure to attract investments in specific projects of national and regional importance and ensure their timely completion. To be headed by deputy chairman of Planning Commission Jaswant Singh, the task force, to begin with, would deal with the projects announced by Prime Minister on October 24.
EC foils Sharma's bid to hijack symbol
The Election Commission has quashed attempts by the suspected Dawood Ibrahim associate, Romesh Sharma, to muscle in and takeover the reserved electoral symbol of the All India Indira Congress (Secular), once floated by veteran Congress leader Arjun Singh.
Blair's envoy to thaw Indo-British chill
After a period of deep freeze, Indo-British ties are expected to warm up with New Delhi set to receive the first high-level visitor from London around mid-November. Derek Fatchett, minister of state in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, will represent his country at the European Union foreign ministers' troika meeting with New Delhi on November 13.
