Clinton moves on
It was supposed to be the midterm funeral of the Clinton presidency. The Republican bloodlust, aided and aggravated by the report of the independent counsel Kenneth Starr, even portrayed this presidency as morally deranged and sexually reckless, a repudiation of the values cherished by the "people of America".

SOS from the heavens
Tie a man's hands behind his back and ask him to play a competitive game. That has been the state of affairs at Air India for as long as anyone can remember. The chickens came home to roost long ago for this perverse policy. But the government has given a fine imitation of an ostrich in the whole affair. Its reason is simple.

A crook and his masters
Romesh Sharma is a rotten apple by any standard. He is said to have committed a score of rapes. He is charged with grabbing large chunks of prime property from those too weak to resist. There is proof indicating he may have aided and abetted the notorious "D-Company" even after its founder Dawood Ibrahim prudently left India just before the Bombay blasts. Given such versatility, it isn't too farfetched to describe Sharma as a master criminal, a veritable Da Vinci of crime.
