WASHINGTON, NOV 5: Almost all members of the 100-strong India Caucus were returned to the Congress, an initial survey of the results shows. In a strong pro-incumbency year, many prominent members of the Caucus, including former co-chairman Frank Pallone and current leader Bill McCollum, were elected comfortably. The chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee for South Asia, Sam Brownback, was also re-elected from Kansas.
The only major casualty was Republican Jon Fox, who was recently elected co-chairman of the Indo-US Parliamentary Committee.
The only Indian American contesting for a seat in the Congress also lost. House hopeful Peter Mathews, who ran on a Democratic ticket from California, was beaten by Steve Horn.
