Dissent in BJP; Cong in disarray
Senior BJP leader and former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Virendra Kumar Saklecha on Thursday resigned from the party and filed his nomination as an independent from the Jawad seat, while Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhairon Singh Shekhawat filed his nomination papers from the Zohuri Bazar Assembly constituency of the pink city.

Sonia relies on new faces in party list
Congress president Sonia Gandhi virtually applied the broom while choosing candidates for the November 25 Assembly elections to four states, nominating more than 50% new faces, sacking a fifth of the sitting MLAs and even dropping some star relatives in the list of candidates for Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

Akalis not to enter poll fray in Delhi
In a dramatic change in stance, the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) has decided not to contest the assembly elections in Delhi. It has decided to support its alliance partner, the BJP, on all 70 seats.
