Mahathir warns APEC delegates on Anwar issue

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 14: Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation ministers today failed to reach consensus on a credible package to cut tariffs for products for priority sectors as the Japan-US trade row threw a wrench in the run-up to the summit meeting next week.

Meanwhile, in an interview, Malaysian premier Mahathir Mohammad warned APEC members against raising the issue of his ousted deputy Anwar Ibrahim, whose wife Wan Azizah Wan Ismail was visited by two Canadian ministers today. ``If we want to debate on politics, no economic issues can be resolved. So, we want to forget about the political part of it.'' Mahathir said.
