US hawks want a longer blacklist
The last may not have been heard of the Entities List. While the American blacklist of Indian government entities and private and parastatal companies allegedly involved in nuclear and missile work has left New Delhi chafing, proliferation hard-liners in the US maintain the list is still incomplete and say they will press for inclusion of more names.

BJD splits; 5 rebels expelled
The rebels in the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Monday removed Ramakrushna Patnaik as leader of the party's legislative wing and the loyalists retaliated by expelling five rebel MLAs from the party to counter the dissident move thereby plunging the party in a crisis.

Anees Ibrahim, cohorts freed
Underworld kingpin Dawood Ibrahim's brothers, Anees Ibrahim and Iqbal, and aides Abu Salem, Mustafa Majnun and Mohammed Dossa, have reportedly been let off by the Dubai police. They were arrested on Saturday for the alleged murder of Irfan Ghogha in Dubai.

Mamata puts Centre on notice
Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee on Monday joined the BJP in accusing the Congress of entering into a "joint venture" with CPI-M to grab power at the Centre. Mamata also put the Vajpayee Government on notice by observing that her party would review its support to the ruling combine after a year on the basis of its performance.
