BJD splits; 5 rebels expelled
The rebels in the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Monday removed Ramakrushna Patnaik as leader of the party's legislative wing and the loyalists retaliated by expelling five rebel MLAs from the party to counter the dissident move thereby plunging the party in a crisis.

Mamata puts Centre on notice
Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee on Monday joined the BJP in accusing the Congress of entering into a "joint venture" with CPI-M to grab power at the Centre. Mamata also put the Vajpayee Government on notice by observing that her party would review its support to the ruling combine after a year on the basis of its performance.

Cong expels rebels in MP and Delhi
The Congress on Monday expelled 12 rebels in Madhya Pradesh, including minister Derhu Prasad Dhritlahre, from the party for a period of six years for contesting against its official nominees in the November 25 Assembly polls in the State.
