NEW DELHI, Dec 1: The BJP-led Government's plans to create the new states of Uttaranchal, Vananchal and Chattisgarh is likely to be put in cold storage. As things stand today, the proposal to grant full statehood to Delhi has also been put on the backburner because of the installation of a new government in Delhi.
On the bills creating the three new states, Khurana said that the all-party meeting held yesterday wanted them to be introduced simultaneously and not separately. ``While the Vananchal bill will have to be referred to the Union Cabinet again following the Bihar Government's refusal to endorse it, the fate of the Uttaranchal bill hinges on the report of the three-member committee headed by Defence Minister George Fernandes. ``He has sought another week's time to prepare the report,'' Khurana told reporters this afternoon.
