SURAT, Dec 14: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad may demand enactment of an anti-conversion law in Gujarat ``to prevent forced conversion of illiterate tribals'', All-India VHP joint General Secretary Pravin Togadia said here today. He said this decision was being forced on his organisation by the minority communities in the state.Describing conversion as ``a war against Hindu society and nation'', Togadia said conversion through fraudulent manners and inducement was a crime, ``which the Christian community in Gujarat was committing''.
Togadia sought to deny the charge that the VHP was the Indian version of Taliban. There is nothing fundamental in Hindu society, he said, adding that ``only secular theocrats have dubbed us Taliban''.
Togadia also spoke on an all-India sants' convention to be held in Vrindavan where sants under 40 will discuss the problem of casteism that prevails in Hindu society.
