What kind of pens are being manufactured these days? lamented Brig C. V. Bhandari, MVC, when the expensive, gold-capped ballpoint pen refused to write. It was after the ceremonial guest dinner in our mess and the visitor's book was to be signed.
Literally amnesiac
When its principal information officer does, in its perception, a bad job of promoting its image, this government unceremoniously transfers him. By extension, the Ministry of Human Resources Development might just as well put itself out of a job for failing to project the country's slightly more respectable literacy figures than those presented by the 1991 census.
Doing an Ananth Kumar on the oil sector
Though the jury's still out on whether Civil Aviation minister Ananth Kumar sacked the combined boards of Air India and Indian Airlines for their incompetence or because they didn't do his bidding, there seems to be a fairly strong case for taking similar action in the oil sector.
