VADODARA, Jan 3: The two-day annual conference of the Indian Association of Paediatrics concluded at the C C Mehta auditorium on Sunday, with experts stressing the need to use recent advances in the field for better treatment. This was the 24th annual conference to be held in the city.
As many as 250 paediatrics from various parts of the state participated in the conference. Speakers from various parts of the country shared their opinion and tried to generate an awareness among the paediatrics here and update them on some of the current trends in management of childhood problems.
Mumbai-based dermatologist, J K Maniar, while talking about the recent advances in management of pediatrics aids, said, ``With these aids, paediatrics would not only be in a position to treat their patients better, but also effectively''.
S B Deopujari of Nagpur, while sharing his experience with oxygen therapy on children, explained that it was not only about the principle of treating children through oxygen cylinders. Deopujari said, ``The child's case study was necessary before treating him. Then the child's physiological aspects also had to be considered before treating him.'' He also stressed the need for an early diagnosis for better treatment.
Presenting his cases K L N Rao of the Post-Graduate Institute of Chandigarh said that it was necessary to know the management of childhood behavioural problems before treating the child.
Paediatrics from Bharuch, Surat and Ahmedabad also presented cases of abnormal manifestations of some of the common childhood diseases like malaria and tuberculosis.
