Five men held for hatching dacoity plot

NEW DELHI, January 3: Five persons were arrested last night by the Bawana police for allegedly planning to commit a dacoity in the Prahlad Vihar area in the southwest district. A knife, a darant (a sharp weapon with teeth), iron rod and hockey sticks were seized from the possession of Vinod Kumar (23), Paramjeet Monti (20), Ranjesh Solanki (23), Mahinder Singh (24) and Phool Kumar (28). Their interrogation led to the arrest of Jai Parkash, resident of Jind district in Haryana, who reportedly used to provide them with shelter. According to the police, the accused have confessed to four robberies -- two in Bawana and the remaining in Narela. The police say that the victims of these robberies were labourers living near tubewells in the fields.
