Dempo arrive late

Express News Service

CALCUTTA, Jan 14: Dempo arrived in Calcutta on Tuesday, a day late for their National Football League Group A matches against Tollygunge Agragami and Mohun Bagan. The match against Tollygunge was scheduled for Wednesday, but was postponed to tomorrow due to Dempo's delayed arrival. Now the Goan team has enough time in hand to get acclimatised.

Dempo, third in Goan league this season, are currently training under coach TK Chathunni, who had led Bagan to the title last year. Of course, he was dumped in a dramatic manner by the Bagan management soon after the victory and was without a club for some time. The Dempo players are slowly getting used to the new coach's way.

Chathunni, who has arrived in the city with 18 players, will stick to the conventional 4-4-2 combination against Tollygunge tomorrow. Of course, the Calcutta side's shock victory over Air-India has made him cautious. He is not going to underestimate the side.

Dempo is without the injured Marcus Carvalho and will have to depend on new recruit Henry Okoro of Nigeria in the forward line. Okoro is likely to join Francis Silveira, Dempo's main striker. Christopher Kem will have added load in the defence with Stanley Colaco missing the game with two bookings.
