CHANDIGARH, Jan 20: A seminar on latest software today discussed the need for exploiting information technology for government circles in order to enhance their efficiency.Organised by the Innovative High Tech Solutions Private Limited (IHSPL) in association with Lotus Corporation here, the seminar delved on how government could harness technology for a more effective and responsive administration. Chaired by the Director, Punjab Information and Technology task force, B.S. Bajaj and attended by top government officials of Punjab and Haryana, it discussed issues like improving the current services offered to the people of Punjab by the government.
Talking about the advanced network techniques in the market, IHSPL Director Simrat Singh Sidhu said, "It is high time the government departments, corporate as well as small office segments come together to form virtual organisation to increase the overall productivity and effectiveness in terms of better communication, collaboration and coordination among various agencies".
Another official from the Lotus Corporation, Manish Kapoor cited various examples from foreign countries, where computerisation in different government cells had actually worked to convenience of the citizens by cutting down unnecessary procedural formalities.
